The LiPro1-2 V3 module protects your valuable lithium cells (LiFeYPO4, LiFePO4, …). The module continuously monitors the cell voltage; as soon as the cell voltage drops too low, the 1st safety loop opens for deep-discharge protection. This safety loop runs through all LiPro1-2 V3 modules and then to a relay that switches off the load. The module has a second safety loop to protect against overcharging. As soon as the threshold voltage is exceeded on any module, the 2nd safety loop opens, which in turn switches off a relay. This relay switches off the charger, for example. In photovoltaic systems, the connection between the solar panels and the charge controller can also be interrupted. Temperature monitoring is also provided; if temperatures rise too high, both safety loops are switched off.

This new V3 version also features an adjustable charger cut-off at low temperatures. Many cell types must no longer be charged at cold temperatures, as the cells would otherwise be destroyed by dendrite growth. In the worst case, the dendrites penetrate the separator, which can cause an internal short circuit. To stop charging at low temperatures, the OVP safety loop is opened, which controls the charging sources. During discharge, low temperatures are usually less critical. Nevertheless, a cut-off can be set here as well.

Charge balancer (balancer):
The LiPro1-2 V3 module also contains a balancer that routes the charging current past the cell once the balancing voltage is reached. At up to 2 A, the balancing current is considerably higher than in most central BMS systems (often only 50 to 100 mA).
